Miami Dispatch: Balmy Breezes, Ghostly Streets

I’m lucky.

When the pandemic hit, and our lives did a complete 180-degree flip, my home and my family welcomed me with open arms. I had a bed to sleep on. A house to quarantine in. A family who got under my skin but also kept me grounded.

I landed in Miami on March 9. There were only 20 COVID-19 cases in the entire state of Florida. None in Miami-Dade County. My county.
